Philadelphia – Sly and the Family Stone performed shows at The Spectrum numerous times throughout their career.
San Francisco – The Birth place of the band, the story of Sly’s gospel beginnings will be told to re-create the energy of the celebration from the beginning.
Las Vegas – first booking outside the Bay Area was a residency at Pussy Cat A Go Go, where they recorded their first album on their days off at CBS in Los Angeles. They came back 2 more times within 6 months, including shows at the Flamingo at the end of 1968.
New York City – gave the band its breakthrough. First, at the famous Electric Circus in August 1967. Many venues followed with The Apollo, Central Park, Summer of Soul Harlem Festival and between 1970-1974, the band appeared 11 times at Madison Square Garden.
Los Angeles – Home of Sly since late 1969, although he moved away a few times. He recording Riot in LA and played multiple venues through the years. It’s also the place where Sly and the Family reunited for one song during the 2006 Grammy awards.
